You can also mine Uranium, which is a rare resource usually only found on highly radioactive planets, and only after scanning the minerals and rocks with an Analysis Visor. Both usually need refining or crafting, which will cost 100 Ferrite from mining stone elements, and 40 Di-hydrogen from blue crystals respectively. Starship Launch Fuel is fairly easy to make, as once you have the blueprint, you need only 50 Pure Ferrite and 1 Di-hydrogen jelly. In order to fuel your thrusts, you will need either containers of Starship Launch Fuel, or quantities of the Uranium element. In order to lift off from a planet (when not on a launchpad indicated by a green ring), you will need launch fuel to get moving. Pyrite is a rarer mineral extract, and can usually only be found when mining large ore or stone deposits after scanning with the Analysis Visor - and more often found in desert planets. Tritium is the easiest resource to acquire, as it can be found among any of the rocks and asteroids in space that appear everywhere when traveling at low speeds. This requires fuel that must be replenished over time, and can take either Tritium or Pyrite. Once you repair your starting ship's Thrusters, you can greatly increase the rate of travel in space between planets (but not in low atmosphere). This can include either the base Carbon (which can be mined from plant-life or the hostile vines, or the carbon crystals), or the Condensed Carbon that lasts considerably longer - and can be mined from larger plant or organic life, or the larger Condensed Carbon crystals.

Once you are able to build portable refiners, you can power them with any sort of Carbon-based energy to refine other elements.
